My favorite place to go to is London. I have family that lives there, so we go down every other year. Not only is the United Kingdom beautiful, but the fashion is lovely too. I wish everyone that lives in the Unites States would dress like the beautiful British people. A typical outfit for a female would consist of crop tops oversized sweaters, something high-waisted, and combat boots or oxfords. Also, many people wore a tremendous amount of jewelry including vintage necklaces and rings covering every finger. That all may sound like too much and a disaster, but I personally loved everything about their outfits! A guys typical outfit would be a cardigan, jeans with tight ankles, and lace-ups. I also noticed that many guys had 'murses' with them. Topshop, a popular and trendy store in the United Kingdom, sells everything you need to dress beautifully! You can purchase anything from the Topshop website as well. I always look forward to flying back to London because of the shopping and attractive people!

One of my most favorite shoe designers is Jeffrey Campbell. He is known for his crazy and strange(but super cute) platform shoes that you can find on Lady Gaga or basically any other fabulous person. Jeffrey Campbell shoes have gotten hot in this past year. A few months ago you were only able to purchase them online, but today you can find a few styles in your local Nordstrom. I love Jeffrey Campbell shoes because they are unique different than other brand of shoes. One negative factor about Jeffrey Campbells is that they are very pricey. A pair of Litas, which is his best selling shoe style, costs about $160. I personally think they are worth every penny. My goal is to own a pair of Jeffrey Campbells before this year ends!
I think It is ridiculous that only about a quarter of fashion designers end up getting big. It is unfair to those that are very creative and talented to be unknown. Some get lucky, some do not. For example, Jeffrey Campbell was unknown a year ago. Today, people around the world are purchasing his shoes. I wish all designers were able to show everyone their designs and get big.

One of my favorite brands is Free People, which is described as a Boho and Indie style. Everything they make is colorful and unique. Whenever you walk into a Free People store, not only do the clothes catch your eye, but the store beautiful store decorations do too.

I went onto the Free People website to check out their job opportunities and see what typed of jobs they offer. Not only do they have sales associates and store managers, but they also have job openings for visual management in stores. I like that they have a whole career for visual arts for Free People because it is both art and fashion tied in together. To me, that sounds like a creative and time consuming job but I would love to be a visual manager. A few traits that Free People looks for in their employees are passion, commitment, honesty, spirit, curiosity, creativity, happiness, intelligence, and pride.

If you have read my past posts, you will know that i am interested in FIDM. A representative from FIDM visited our school last Thursday to provide more information about the school to those interested in it. Her visit was really helpful to me and i learned a lot more than i knew. I also did hear her talk about some things that i knew about after researching about FIDM for my last post.

Hello Reader!
I have been learning about FIDM, which stands for Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. FIDM is a private college that educates students in fields of Fashion, Entertainment,  Interior Design, and Graphics. There are currently four locations including San Francisco, Downtown Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. I am interesting in taking a tour of FIDM San Francisco, which i learned is offered through the website. Not only does this school help with fashion and graphic designing, but it also teaches students how to merchandise and buy for major companies and department stores. Some jobs from FIDM include designing textiles, designing new clothes for a doll, or even designing a dress for an Oscar nominated Movie. I like that this school provides many different branches of design. I am most interested in the fashion field. From looking through the website, i learned that there are four careers for Majors in fashion, including the Designer, Design Director, Associate Designer, and Technical Designer. Under the Creative Director section, Visual Communications caught my eye. In that field, it is your job to design sets for runway shows and gallery openings. Lastly, Merchandise Marketing sounded interesting to me as well. According to the FIDM website, one must be organized and a born leader to be a good Merchandise Marketer and i think i am both. I always try my best to be organized and not lose things. Also, I was ASB class president last year and i could relate to that for the leader part.  I am glad that I have started to research about fashion schools, especially ones that are close to me. I am now understanding more about the different fields of fashion and i believe that FIDM may be a choice for me!

Hi followers! In the past week I have been doing some research on Fashion Journalism. I learned a lot more about different branches of journalism in the fashion industry. There are many things one can do such as become a fashion critic, run an online fashion blog, run an online fashion magazine, write books on fashion, and write for magazines or newspapers. Also, as a fashion journalist, it is critical to attend fashion shoots and interviews in order to get in good contacts with fashion photographers and designers. I knew that editing and writing articles are two of the main jobs of a journalist, but i just learned about all of the other great jobs a fashion journalist has. Some of the most famous fashion capitals include New York City, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Paris. I know that New York City and Los Angeles are full of offices and finding a job may be easier over there. London is my absolute favorite place in the world. I have been there many times and i have noticed that fashion plays a big role over there. It would be a dream come true if i found a Fashion Journalist job in London. I am looking forward to researching more about different jobs involving fashion.

Hey Guys. I made this blog to help me determine what i want to do in the future. I'm really interested in fashion, but i am not sure that it is what I want to major in. As of now, I dont know too much about the fashion career but i've heard that it is difficult to make money off of it. I want to start looking things up about fashion majors and what jobs I would be able to get with it. Hopefully i can find out if a fashion career is for me or not. I know I can do something that branches off into other subjects too such a Magazine Journalist for a fashion magazine which includes not only fashion, but writing too. Maybe a fashion career will work for me.
