Post #12:Does fashion really have a future?
This year has came to an end and after all of out blog cycles, I think I have made the decision that the Fashion Industry will not get me too far. Yes, I love fashion but I can think of other things that I love that may actually get me a successful future. I'm not saying that Fashion Designers do not succeed in life, because many of them do! My cousin studied Biology and graduated from Cal Poly years ago, but three years ago she decided that she wants to get into fashion. She now owns two of her own clothing boutiques and can still get a job in science or medicine because she studied biology. I was thinking that I can do the same! I am excited to see what the future holds.

Many people look at fashion industry and think of it as an easy and laid back job because you can use your own creativity to make apparel and nothing can ever go wrong with that. This statement is false. Although what consumers see does not seen like much work, working in the fashion industry is hard work. The behind the scenes work is surprising. Fashion designers go through so much stress and put so much effort into making sure their clients piece is perfect and done on time. Also, they go through the stress of finding materials and products they need to meet what their clients need. Not only do designers go through stress, but workers do too while making sure they sell the correct materials to the designer and making sure they receive them on time. During fashion shows, everyone that is a part of the fashion show, including designers, models, and directors, put in so much effort behind the scenes to make sure the show runs perfectly. Next time you see a piece of clothing or attend a fashion show, thing about all of the pressure are work that everyone went through to make it happen!

Whether you're a fashionista or someone who does not care about their appearance, the way you look will always be the first thing a person sees in you. Neither choice is bad. Your individual style is how you are perceived by others. One's style can come from culture, religion, or simply just creativity. If you are the type of person that gets up every morning and throws on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt, your style may show that you are a laid-back person. If you are the type of person that wakes up every every morning and takes time to pick out a colorful outfit and get ready, then this shows that you are a fun and confident person. Both of these scenarios are perfectly fine. Your fashion style is who you are and what people think of you. Never be afraid of expressing yourself through your appearance because each persons individual style is unique. So next time your standing in front of your closet picking out an outfit, think about what that outfit says about you!

Post #8:Collaboration and Communication
The two most important factors of fashion design are collaboration and communication because without these two, no piece of clothing can be made. Without collaboration, it can be difficult to come up with new designs. With two minds working together, new ideas with come faster and creativity will be easier. In the fashion industry, there are many different jobs such as cut manufacturing, sew manufacturing, design services, and pattern services. Adding to that list, there is also the fashion designer who puts everything together to make the final product. This gives you an idea of how many people it takes to come up with one piece of clothing and small as one shirt, because it cannot be made without input from every part of the industry. Also, communication with a fashion designers client is important. Throughout the process, a fashion designer is required to keep in touch with their client about the garment to make sure it is coming out just the way they wanted it. If it doesn't, the client will not be happy and the designer will lose profit. Without collaboration and communication, it is impossible for a designer to make a garment.

One of my most favorite shoe designers is Jeffrey Campbell. He is known for his crazy and strange(but super cute) platform shoes that you can find on Lady Gaga or basically any other fabulous person. Jeffrey Campbell shoes have gotten hot in this past year. A few months ago you were only able to purchase them online, but today you can find a few styles in your local Nordstrom. I love Jeffrey Campbell shoes because they are unique different than other brand of shoes. One negative factor about Jeffrey Campbells is that they are very pricey. A pair of Litas, which is his best selling shoe style, costs about $160. I personally think they are worth every penny. My goal is to own a pair of Jeffrey Campbells before this year ends!
I think It is ridiculous that only about a quarter of fashion designers end up getting big. It is unfair to those that are very creative and talented to be unknown. Some get lucky, some do not. For example, Jeffrey Campbell was unknown a year ago. Today, people around the world are purchasing his shoes. I wish all designers were able to show everyone their designs and get big.
